Pulaski County ,KY (SPA) - According to a press release from Pulaski County Sheriff Bobby Jones, deputies observed a suspicious vehicle, a silver Ford F-150 traveling eastbound on the Cumberland Parkway, with a registration plate registered to a Buick. Upon conducting a traffic stop, it was determined that the vehicle was being operated by Sean Campbell, 51, of Liberty, Kentucky. The deputy observed in plain view an open alcoholic beverage container in the cup holder of the vehicle. Deputy requested a K-9 to the traffic stop location. Upon searching with K-9, the K-9 indicated affirmatively the presence of an illicit substance in the passenger compartment of the vehicle.

Upon searching for the vehicle, deputies discovered an array of illicit items, including a loaded .38 Special revolver tucked in between the driver’s seat and center seat cushion. Further investigation determined that Campbell was operating the vehicle on an expired operator's license and failed to provide proof of valid registration for the car. As a result of the search, deputies located a black zip-up case in the center floorboard of the vehicle that contained the following: a plastic bag containing 113.8 grams of suspected methamphetamine, digital scales, and a prescription bottle of suspected liquid methadone with the name removed. A check of Campbell’s criminal history confirmed that he is a prior convicted felon. Also located within the passenger compartment of the vehicle were numerous empty plastic baggies, numerous glass smoking pipes, and a second set of digital scales. A search of Campbell’s person was conducted, and he possessed $415 in cash.

Campbell was placed under arrest and lodged in the Pulaski Co. Detention Center on the following charges:

  1.  No Registration Plates
  2. No Registration Receipt
  3.  Operating Vehicle with Expired Operator’s License
  4. Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense Over 2 grams of Methamphetamine (Firearm Enhancement)

  6. Possession of a Controlled Substance, 2nd Degree – Drug Unspecified
  7.  Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess\
  8.  Possession of an Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in a Motor Vehicle Prohibited

The investigation is still ongoing by Detective Trent Massey.
