An Editorial Board statement has been added.

Somerset Pulaski Advocate (SPA) is committed to providing impartial, objective, and transparent information to the residents of Somerset and Pulaski County.

We adhere to the following policy:

Non-Endorsement Policy

The Somerset Pulaski Co Advocate does not endorse any political candidates for local, state, or national office. SPA does not accept contributions, compensation, or in-kind support from political candidates or their campaigns.

SPA volunteers, in their individual capacities, retain the right to support and vote for candidates of their choosing. Such individual activities are separate from SPA and do not influence editorial content or coverage.

As an organization, SPA remains strictly nonpartisan and does not use its platform to advocate for or against any candidate or to influence the electoral decisions of its readers.

Coverage vs. Endorsement Disclaimer

Our mission is to keep the public informed. To that end:

  • The publication of any article, interview, profile, or report regarding a political candidate is intended solely for informational purposes.

  • Coverage of a candidate’s platform, events, or statements does not constitute an endorsement by SPA or any member of its editorial team.

We believe the responsibility for selecting elected representatives rests solely with the voters. Our role is to provide information that supports informed decision-making.

The information presented by SPA is not influenced by the personal views or individual support of any SPA volunteer.

Candidate profiles and submissions in the Candidate Spotlight were developed in direct coordination with participating candidates to ensure the content accurately reflects their own words and intent, including headlines. Each participating candidate reviewed and approved their final profile prior to publication. If a candidate did not participate, that was their choice.

An open invitation to participate was extended to all candidates through SPA’s website and social media channels. For the primary election, this invitation closed on April 16 to allow sufficient time for publication while recognizing the increasing demands on candidates as the election approaches.

This timeline was established to provide voters with early access to candidate information while allowing candidates to focus on engaging with constituents in the final weeks leading up to the election. SPA plans to reopen the invitation near the end of summer for the general election.
