Somerset, KY (SPA)---In the rolling hills and hardworking communities of Pulaski County’s 4th District, everyone knows that a man is only as good as his word and his work ethic. For John "Jack" W. New, those aren't just local values—they are the foundation of a 42-year career and a lifelong commitment to the land he calls home.
As the May 2026 Republican Primary approaches, Jack is stepping forward with a simple but powerful mission: to bring the same reliability and common-sense leadership to the Fiscal Court that he brought to every shift at UPS and every sunrise on the farm.
A Lifetime of Pulaski Pride
Jack isn't just a resident; he’s a "life-long Pulaski Countian" who understands the unique heartbeat of the 4th District. Growing up on the dairy and beef farms of his parents, Carlos and Joann New, Jack learned early on that nothing of value comes without getting your hands a little dirty.
Today, while he is technically "retired" after nearly 42 years with UPS, you’ll still find him out in the fields as a beef farmer. For Jack, farming isn't just an occupation—it’s a connection to the heritage of Pulaski County and a daily reminder of the challenges facing our local agricultural community.
Decades of Service, A Future of Leadership
What does 42 years at a global logistics giant teach you? For Jack, it was a masterclass in people.
-
The Power of Listening: His career allowed him to rub elbows with everyone from small business owners and teachers to fellow farmers and retirees.
-
The Voice of the People: Jack believes his greatest asset is his ability to translate the needs of the 4th District into action. "My past career will help in communicating the people's voice in the Pulaski Fiscal Court," he says.
-
Proven Reliability: Spending four decades with one employer speaks volumes about Jack’s character. He’s a finisher—someone who shows up, does the job right, and stays until the work is done.
What Jack New Stands For:
-
Fiscal Responsibility: Managing your tax dollars with the same care he uses to manage a farm budget.
-
Accessibility: Being a Magistrate who is reachable, relatable, and ready to listen to the concerns of 4th District residents.
-
Conservative Values: A lifelong Republican who believes in hard work, family, and limited, effective government.
"I’ve always had an interest in politics... and now is the time to put that interest to work for the people of the 4th District." — Jack New

Why Jack is Running Now
Jack has always kept a keen eye on local politics, but his motivation for running as Magistrate is personal. He is a family man at heart, with four grandchildren he adores and a fifth on the way. He wants to ensure that the Pulaski County they inherit is fiscally sound, safe, and full of opportunity.
Currently serving on the SBC Board, Jack is already active in the civic life of the county. He isn't running to change who he is; he’s running to bring who he is to the table for you.
