Somerset, Kentucky (SPA)----Prepare for an unforgettable weekend where the worlds of comic books and the paranormal collide, as Cumberland Con 2025 gears up to transform The Center for Rural Development into a hub of excitement and intrigue. Slated for Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, this unique convention promises an engaging celebration of the strange, the supernatural, and the illustrated for enthusiasts of all ages.
A Con-Vergence of Interests: Where Comics Meet the Cryptic
Born from a shared passion for graphic storytelling and the thrill of the unknown, Cumberland Con is dedicated to uniting fans in a vibrant community space. This year's event is especially significant, marking key anniversaries in horror and paranormal history that promise to leave attendees on the edge of their seats.
Star-Studded Lineup and Special Anniversaries
Leading the charge of special guests is Ari Lehman, the original Jason Voorhees from the iconic film Friday the 13th. As the movie celebrates its 45th anniversary, Lehman will engage with fans through a special movie screening, a live Q&A session, and a high-energy performance with his horror-punk band, First Jason.
The convention will also shine a spotlight on local paranormal history with Geraldine Sutton Stith, author and daughter of the eyewitness from the legendary Hopkinsville Goblins encounter. As this mysterious event marks its 70th anniversary, Stith will delve into one of Kentucky's most enduring paranormal tales during the "Celebrating the '70s" paranormal spotlight.
Rounding out the guest list are notable figures like Travis Gibb, creator of the Cthulhu Invades universe, who will be present with an event-exclusive comic cover by cofounder Jobie Bradley. Former WWE/TNA wrestler Wolfie D also joins the lineup, along with local indie film groups CK Film & Entertainment (promoting their upcoming movie Festevil) and ITSEG Films, known for their paranormal investigations.
Beyond the Guests: Art, Cosplay, and Community Spirit
Cumberland Con 2025 is more than just guest appearances; it’s a full-fledged celebration of creative expression and community. Attendees can explore a diverse array of artists, crafters, collectibles, and vendors specializing in horror and paranormal vendors, ensuring there’s something unique for everyone. Food trucks will be on-site to keep energy levels high, complementing a schedule packed with engaging panels and signing opportunities.
A major highlight for many will be the Cosplay Contests for both adults and children. Adult contestants will vie for impressive prizes, including a $500 tattoo gift certificate for first place from Jonas and Company, a $200 piercing certificate for second, and a $100 tattoo gift certificate for third. The event also proudly showcases the talent of younger artists through its K–12 Art Contest, with winners from elementary, middle, and high school levels recognized at the convention. The high school winner even earns the unique honor of returning as a special guest artist the following year.
