Defeating Life’s Giants with Remembering Upon God’s Deliverance

God had miraculously delivered his people from captivity in Egypt from Pharaoh. He parted the Red Sea, then he allowed it to consume the Egyptians as they pursuit them. God fed them, He quenched their thirst with water from a rock and brought them all the way to the edge of the promised land. This land flowed with milk and honey! This land had the promise of rest, abundance, and victory with it.

Once they were at the edge of the promise, they refused to go in because of doubt. They did not believe that God was able to help them conquer the giants that were standing in their way in their way. This land already had a promise of victory, yet they doubted that the God who had delivered them about Egypt and then the God that provided for them food, couldn’t help them conquer the promise of victory over the promised land.

It reminds me of the story of a young David. Israel was under King Saul and was getting ready to go up against the Philistines. And Goliath was a literal giant with records indicating that he was 9 feet tall, yet no one wanted to step forward and face him. Young David, however, was willing to step in and take on the giant self. There was a lot at stake here. If Israel lost, then they were going to be at the hands of the Philistines and become captive to them.

David had such a bold faith, but his faith rested in everything that the Lord had already delivered him from and carried him through. He makes a statement how God delivered him. In 1 Samuel 17:36 David said, "Your servant slew both the lion and the bear. And this uncircumcised Philistine will be as one of them, because he has reviled the armies of the living God.” He had such a faith that led with a boldness and a confidence that could only come from God. Unlike the Israelites on the edge of the Promise Land, David was able to step out because of belief. Young David believed that the Lord would carry him through to win the battle. He believed that his God was bigger than any giant, even a human one. With a small pebble and a sling, David defeats the giant by knocking him to the ground and then taking the giant sword and cutting off his head.

The God that delivered Egypt out of captivity and the God that David had such confidence in, is the exact same God that meets us right where we’re at and delivers us. It does not matter what giant you are facing today. You can face those giants with a confidence in the Lord. You can walk with boldness knowing that whatever comes your way the Lord is going to handle it. If the Lord has directly called you into something, he will see you through it no matter what weapons tries to form against you. They will not prosper. If you were going through a hardship, whether it be relationships, financial, job, your health, the Lord wants you to have a bold faith like Young David, trusting that he will see you through it.

The promises from the Lord are not gone and they’re not dried up. They are still there flowing like milk and honey waiting for you right now while you sit in your unbelief. The hard situation will come to past. You have to believe that the tough situations don’t last forever. It’s just a part of life and God will see you through it.

If you’re under intense spiritual warfare, just know that there is a breakthrough coming & a blessing that is on the other side. So often in scripture, we see how God’s chosen people went through up and down with wars, hardships, tribulations, and persecution. I want to remind you that the main war we face is "not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places." (Ephesians 6:12 MEV) God also tells us that there is no weapon that will form against us will prosper. (Isaiah 54:17) We fought just like Jesus did in the wilderness with the Word of God and with the truth. The enemy can only have as much as you will allow to give to him.

Walk in a bold faith with Godly confidence in the one who has already delivered you from eternity in Hell! The one who has already delivered you up out of your sin! The one who has given you a new life and a new path! Believe that He will deliver you out of the situation that you are currently in & believe that he’s going to walk through the valley with you. He will shield you from every fiery dart of the enemy! Believe that the Lord, who has already delivered you before is going to take you into the promises that he has for you. The ultimate promise in the end is a promise of eternity.

Today we must choose to die to the flesh, to resist Satan and submit to God, (James 4:7). We must choose to have a bold faith from the remembrance of what the Lord has already done for us and that He will continue to walk with us and to carry us. That He will not leave any promise unfulfilled, but sometimes we’re sitting on the edge of the promised land and we can see it, but we don’t have enough faith to believe that God is going to take us there. He is saying today to have bold faith like young David. So, be bold in your faith and trust so deeply in the Lord that your confidence is in Him and Him alone.

  •  Where in your faith right now are you struggling with a level of unbelief?
  • Give that unbelief to God in surrender and ask how He can help you in it.

Heavenly Father,

Forgive me for any ounce of unbelief that I have right now. I ask that you search within me to help me understand why. I pray that you will give me a boldness that can only come for you and the power of the Holy Ghost. There is so much that you have already done for me and I'm sorry that I don't praise you enough for that. Help me in my unbelief and thank you for the gift of grace that you have given me.

In Jesus' name,

AMEN
