Have you ever thought about moments in your story where you needed comfort and someone shared with you that they understood what you were going through, because they had been there. Maybe there was a time when the Lord was the only one, we could count on for comfort or someone shared Jesus with you in that moment.

We will face hardships, pain, lost, rejection and may other difficult situation and emotions. The one thing about Jesus was that he was fully human and fully God when he was on earth. That means he faced Rejection and even said we would too, especially for his name's sake (John 15:18). Jesus faced temptations and because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted (Hebrews 2:18 KJV). Jesus faced a physical pain far greater than most of us will ever understand or bear when he died on the cross for our sins.

We all face moments that are less than ideal, but with our hope in Jesus, he promised to send a comforter to His disciples (John 14:26) and to us when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Jesus said "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." (John 14:27 KJV) As followers of Christ, we will have opportunities to share the comfort we have experienced from God through the Holy Spirit to help comfort others in need. Yes, we all have painful parts of our stories that we would rather not share, but when we do share with the heart of wanting to comfort someone, we point them to the one who gave us the comfort we needed.

This week if you have something difficult going on, ask God to comfort you in this season. You may not understand why things are happening, but God knows all and sees all. He will give you a peace that surpasses all understanding and will provide a comfort through the Holy Spirit that only can be gave by Him. If you are someone who has a person on your heart to reach out to, then do it. Even if you do not know the situation, trust that God does. Tell them God had them on your heart and you just wanted to reach out and tell them you were praying for them. That sometimes will provide more comfort than you can imagine and will help them not feel alone. I ask you to ask God how you can use the hard, painful, and difficult seasons of life to lift, encourage, and to provide comfort to the ones around you.
