Topeka, Kansas (SPA) . — Kentucky State Police Public Affairs office announces, a 41-year-old Topeka man was arrested Friday morning on multiple felony charges stemming from alleged sexual crimes involving a Kentucky minor, according to law enforcement officials.

Justin R. Bevitt was taken into custody at approximately 6:45 a.m. when Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) agents executed a search warrant at his residence on SW Lane Street. The arrest followed a multi-state investigation initiated by the Kentucky State Police.

The charges against Bevitt include procuring or promoting the use of a minor, unlawful transaction with a minor in the first and second degrees, and distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. Court documents allege that Bevitt traveled to Kentucky in late July and engaged in sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old female.

The investigation began when Kentucky State Police Post 03 received a report that a juvenile had left home with a 41-year-old male. After contacting the minor's parents, investigators discovered that Bevitt had multiple previous encounters with the victim.

Kentucky authorities worked with the Warren County Commonwealth Attorney's Office to obtain a search warrant for Bevitt's property and requested assistance from Kansas law enforcement agencies.

Bevitt was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections and is expected to face extradition to Kentucky. Additional charges are pending in Kansas, according to KBI officials.

Detective Jason Warinner is leading the ongoing investigation.

No additional details about the case have been released as the investigation continues.
