PSA Wednesday: Local Resource Spotlight

This week, we want to highlight a local weather resource making a positive impact across our region — WxKevin. Link in comments!

Since launching his weather-focused Facebook page in December 2023, Kevin Harper has consistently provided our community with weather updates, severe weather awareness information, watches, warnings, and practical safety reminders tailored to our area.

Beyond forecasts, his page is filled with helpful “weather nuggets of knowledge” that make learning about weather both interesting and accessible.

What stands out most is his commitment to keeping people informed during severe weather events while consistently encouraging preparedness and safety.

As Kevin notes on his page: 

“Major weather event coverage/updates; this NEVER replaces official NWS coverage! TRR Operations”

We especially appreciate his efforts to promote weather readiness and community education, including public severe weather preparedness events and safety awareness outreach.

Local awareness and preparedness matter — and people who dedicate their time to helping others stay informed deserve recognition.
