PADUCAH, KY (SPA)— The Kentucky Skeet Shooting Association State Tournament, held this past weekend at the Chief Paduke Gun Club, saw a field of the state's most talented marksmen vying for top honors. Amidst a weekend of intense competition and numerous tie-breakers, one name stood out in the 28-gauge event: Barkley Lister. The Pulaski County Outdoorsman Club member and Danville resident secured a hard-fought victory, showcasing precision and composure under pressure.
Lister's win in the 28-gauge competition was a testament to his skill and focus. The event, which is one of four featured at the annual state championship, came down to a thrilling shoot-off. Lister, along with another perfect-scoring competitor, Gavin Stevenson, entered a sudden-death contest to decide the champion.
The outcome was determined after a flawless performance by both shooters, who had each hit 100 straight targets during the regulation round. In the subsequent shoot-off, Lister demonstrated remarkable consistency, holding his nerve to emerge as the 28-gauge champion. His performance was part of a larger tournament that included perfect scores in other events as well, highlighting the high level of competition on display at the Chief Paduke Gun Club.
While Dr. Kenneth Ford of Sharpe was crowned the High Over All (HOA) champion for his cumulative performance across all four gun categories, Lister's victory in the 28-gauge event was a significant achievement. It solidifies his position as one of Kentucky's top skeet shooters. Lister has been a familiar face on the state's all-star teams, and his recent championship victory is a highlight of his distinguished career in the sport.
The Pulaski County Outdoorsman Club extends its congratulations to Lister, celebrating his win as a significant accomplishment for the local shooting sports community. His success serves as an inspiration for aspiring shooters and further elevates the reputation of the club's members on the statewide stage.
