Frankfort, Kentucky (SPA)-- A press release from the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources announces that starting this year, decoys are no longer allowed on public dove fields until October 1. This change was made to provide a safer and more enjoyable hunting experience for everyone in the field.
Early-season use of decoys can create low-flying birds, which is a safety concern during the busiest part of the season. Additionally, decoys were sometimes used to claim large areas of a field, which limited opportunities for other hunters.
By waiting until October 1 to use decoys, hunters can help ensure that all participants have a fair and safe experience.
